Xanthe Goodman

Polocrosse
Inspirational Award
2019

The DRF are delighted to announce a new beneficiary of an Inspirational Award.

We’d like to introduce you to Xanthe Goodman, a young lady who is passionate about horses, their welfare, and the intriguing game of Polocrosse.  For the uninitiated, Polocrosse is a team sport – a combination of polo and lacrosse. It is played outside, on a field, on horseback.  Each rider uses a cane or fibreglass stick to which is attached a racquet head with a loose, thread net, in which the ball is carried.

Xanthe applied to the DRF for financial assistance with her training and kit as she was recently selected for the 2019 England Pony Club Polocrosse Team.  Her referees said she was chosen for the team because she has a good attitude towards participating and contributing to teams, and that she supports and coaches other younger less able players at any opportunity.

The Trustees were impressed with her tenacity and dedication.  Xanthe’s letter of thanks said “When I read my letter,  I was extremely proud of myself and my horses.  I finally realise how hard I have worked.  This award has really helped with my International Polocrosse debut this month.  It has paid for my kit and training which is not only beneficial for the competition, but I can use this training in all of my work.  My award has benefitted me this season and it now means that I can give my horses even more care and affection.  I would like to thank David Randall Foundation for the support and I can’t wait to make everyone proud. “

Xanthe is competing for England on 20th and 21st July, with four days training and team building beforehand.  We’ll keep you posted on her progess.
