I am incredibly grateful to receive the David Randall Foundation Scholarship.
I am 14 years old, and sport and music are my life. I started playing cricket when I was six, and I now represent Essex Girls U16 and U18, the London and East Region Emerging Players squad, and Saffron Walden Cricket Club. I am a batter and seam bowler, and I love developing the wide range of skills that cricket demands. I enjoy working on both the technical and tactical aspects of my game and constantly challenging myself to improve.
Music has always been a huge part of my life — I can’t remember a time without it. I began learning the violin at three, the trumpet at eight, and the drums at ten. Each instrument is very different, which I love, as it allows me to explore a wide variety of musical styles and ensembles, from classical orchestras and brass bands to Latin and funk groups. I am currently working towards my diplomas in violin and trumpet, as well as Grade 7 on the drums.
I have made significant progress recently in both my music and cricket, and the David Randall Foundation Scholarship will enable me to take my development to the next level. I hope to complete my diplomas and grade exams this year, attend an inspiring summer chamber music course, and take part in a school music ensemble tour to Italy. The scholarship will also allow me to access one-to-one cricket coaching for both batting and bowling, giving me an invaluable opportunity to refine my technique ahead of the coming season. I am especially excited about being able to invest in a new bat to support my training and match performance.
I am extremely thankful for this opportunity and excited to make the very most of it.
The DRF are honoured to play a part in the journey of this inspirational young lady and are deeply impressed by her dedication and passion. Wishing her every success for the year ahead.
