Scholarship News – Sarah

Sarah, our Flautist and Oboist, has been in touch with her lastest news.

” I have been quite busy recently. At the Essex Youth Orchestra, we are preparing for the Christmas concert which is themed as music written by John Williams. We will be performing in Brentwood and Colchester to school children.  The rehearsal was my first orchestra residential and I enjoyed all of it. There is another residential in December for the New Year concert at Chelmsford Cathedral.

I went to the National Youth Orchestra Inspire, held in Stratford,  for the Flute Ensemble day in November and I really enjoyed that too. It was fun to play with other flutes. They have offered me a space for their Woodwind Ensemble residency in Blackpool during February half term. I am looking forward to it a lot. They have shuttles taking children there from several points around the UK.

Band News –  we just had our awards and promotions night, and I was promoted to Corporal, and I got the musician of the year award again!

I am playing for the Welsh Society next week too. I will be playing two pieces on the flute, and two peices on the oboe.

I feel very special to have all those opportunities and to be able to accept them. Thanks to the DRF for all your help”.

Sarah’s hard work and dedication is paying huge dividends.  The DRF are very proud of her.
