Over £9,800 Raised at Rock Up For Randall
A Brilliant Day for a Brilliant Cause
We’re absolutely thrilled to share that this year’s Rock Up For Randall, held on Sunday 24th August, raised a fantastic £9,810.82 for the David Randall Foundation. Every penny will go towards organising good days for people living with life-limiting conditions – something we’re incredibly proud to continue doing in David’s name.
The event, delivered by the Foundation and hosted at Maldon Cricket & Rugby Club, was a true celebration of sport, music, fun, and generosity. From the very start, the atmosphere was inspiring, with hundreds of people from Maldon, Heybridge and beyond joining us for a day to remember.
One of the highlights was our kwik cricket festival, where young players were treated to a special visit from our Patron, Sir Alastair Cook. Alastair was brilliant – chatting with families, signing kit, posing for photos, and cheering on the next generation of cricketers.
Children had a blast on the inflatables, while families enjoyed browsing stalls from over 30 local businesses, each offering something special – we even had a tank! Our DRF children’s games brought a touch of traditional village fete charm, with favourites like hook-a-duck, tombola, and guess the weight of the cake proving as popular as ever.
A new addition this year was our dog show, which went down a treat! We welcomed dozens of perfect pooches, and it was wonderful to see so many families getting involved and showing off their furry friends.
A huge part of the day’s success was thanks to our incredible musicians, who gave up their time to perform and keep the crowd entertained from start to finish. We’re so grateful to: Paul Etherton, Eva’s Dream, Shades of Envy, Lithium, Karl DJ and of course, the wonderful 6 String Makeover.
A special thank you also goes to
Simarco International Ltd who not for the first time kindly provided the trailer stage for performances. Without their support, we simply couldn’t deliver the event in the way we do – and their contribution helped us raise even more on the day.
We were supported by over 30 volunteers, whose hard work and dedication made everything possible. From setting up early in the morning, to running activities and to packing down at the end, their efforts were truly appreciated.
We also want to recognise the many local businesses who donated raffle prizes and supported the event – your belief in the Foundation means the world to us.
Sue Randall, speaking on behalf of the trustees, said:
“I’d like to thank the very many people who contributed to Rock Up For Randall this year. It takes a great team to organise and put on such a wonderful day. And of course, all the hard work would have been to no avail if the wonderful people and dogs of Maldon and Heybridge hadn’t turned out in force, so thank you for coming. I miss David every day but am proud of what we are achieving in his name. I know he would be amazed!”
What’s Next?
We’re already looking ahead to our next event – the Santa Fun Run, taking place on 14th December at Promenade Park, Maldon. Free registration is now open, and we’d love to see you there, helping us raise even more for this worthy cause.
Thank you again to everyone who made Rock Up For Randall such a success. We couldn’t do it without you.
