David Randall Foundation is proud to announce Westcombe Park developer Countryside Homes as headline sponsor of the annual ‘Rock Up for Randall’ community event to raise funds for people with life limiting illnesses
The David Randall Foundation is very pleased to announce Westcombe Park developer Countryside Homes (part of Vistry Group) as the headline sponsor of its “Rock Up for Randall” event, to raise funds for people with life limiting illnesses. Now in its 12th year, ‘Rock up for Randall’ is returning for a fun-filled day and evening of activities for all on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th August at Maldon Cricket Club, Drapers Chase CM9 4QT. This year’s event will feature a vibrant mix of entertainment, including the final hours of a new 24-hour charity darts marathon.
“Rock Up for Randall” is an annual family fun day dedicated to bringing people together for a day of enjoyment while supporting a great cause. The event is named in honour of David Randall, a cherished community figure, and is organised by local charity The David Randall Foundation, which aims to help others with life limiting conditions experience as many good days as possible as well as awarding Scholarships and inspirational awards to talented young sportspeople and musicians.
Commencing at 6pm on Saturday 24th August with a live streamed 24hr Charity Darts Marathon where a team of volunteers will attempt to score a target of 392,000 points (equating to the number of people diagnosed with cancer in the UK last year). The family fun day on Sunday will feature a range of activities starting with an inter club Kwik Cricket Festival in the morning from 9.30am to 12.00pm, in memory of David’s exceptional talent and determination for the sport, followed by an afternoon of fun for all the family including inflatables, local craft and food stalls, barbecue, a licenced bar, a fabulous auction and other attractions. To round off the day, an evening of Live Music from 7.00pm till 11.00pm including a Michael Jackson Tribute Act and Oasis Tribute Band. Proceeds raised from the event will help support the foundation’s work across the county, supporting people with life limiting illnesses to enjoy life to the full for as long as possible and to provide scholarships and inspirational awards to people who demonstrate exceptional dedication and passion in pursing their ambitions in sport or music.

Sir Alastair Cook, the former England cricket captain who spent his entire professional career playing for Essex County Cricket club until his retirement in 2023, has been a Patron of David Randall Foundation since its inception. Every year the event just seems to get bigger and better.”

- David Randall was a talented sportsman and musician who died of bowel cancer aged 27.
- The David Randall Foundation was set up in his memory to provide ‘Good Days’ for people with life-limiting illnesses and Scholarships and Inspirational Awards for young people with talent and dedication to sport or music.
