1st September 2019
Now that the dust has settled on last weekend’s Rock Up For Randall, we would like to officially thank everyone who contributed to the days success. Hopefully the following statement does just that…..
RUFR 2019
Thankfully the sun shone this year after last years’ soaking conditions. Drapers looked a picture bathed in brilliant light and a big day was expected. A day like this relies on the hard work of many and this following piece hopes to thank those without whom we cannot do it.
The day as usual started with the Kwik Cricket festival and we thank sincerely the 16 teams that played in glorious heat and the parents who gave their support and then spent their money. Big thanks to our young colt members who umpired and scored and to Simon Hull for his organisation of the tournament.
To our car park team and entrance stewards, thank you for taking the donations and marshalling the cars. To all of our helpers and supporters who manned sideshows and stalls and sold raffle tickets and sold tea and coffee and cake or milkshakes and ice creams or painted faces or supervised young kids on activities, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
To our stupendous BBQ crew, the food was great and plentiful and thank you so much for enduring the heat to dish up for the masses and do it with your usual humour and drive.
The music stage was new this year and proved to be a big hit and a sunshine magnet. Many thanks to the acts that sang their hearts out or played their instruments beautifully. We loved hearing you. So a huge thankyou to the great Sid Bolan Band who continue to play their tunes brilliantly and our favourite choir Funky Voices who sang their hearts out.as usual. To local girls the lovely Holly and Lauren you were both superb and local band Myopia you have a really bright future. To our DRF girl Elodie and her sister Satin you added some poise and grace with your Violin and Cello so many many thanks to you both. To our very own Dave the Lord Boyden we so admire your courage to play your own songs and conquer your nerves and to the excellent Kyla Brown you ended the afternoon in superb style and we appreciate your trip from London to come play for us. As always the best party band in Essex and our friends 6 String Makeover played us into the night and boys you get better and better and we really don’t want you to ever stop playing…Jimmy crowd surfing to your set was a particular highlight as were the guest vocalists you added. So thank you boys, top stuff as always!!
To all our Maldon Cricketers past and present thank you for playing a good game of The Hundred in the afternoon whilst the crowd were watching a certain Mr Stokes at Headingley; your efforts in the heat were truly appreciated as were those of Umpires Digweed and Dack and scorer Statto.
Special mention for our Auction man Muzza who continues to get people to part with some serious cash for our superb lots, you are brilliant at this and the sums you raise are phenomenal.
To Jas and Sue Bains; thankyou for your delicious Curry Supper that was well appreciated and tasty and enjoyed by many. As always Martin and his bar crew, who kept the drinks flowing late into the night, we salute you.
Special thanks also to Steve Brown on the PA all day and our events manager Michael Foster for all the unseen work in the build up.
Finally, thank you to our great trustees and ambassadors for your ideas and organisation and for your continuing commitment to our great cause and for your determination to make a difference to the many.
The grand sum of £14300 was raised from all your efforts and Arkle would have raised a smile at that.
Until the same time next year.
