Elodie’s news – A Medley of Mendelssohn

14th July 2019

This year’s scholar, talented violinist Elodie, recently performed a solo violin concerto as part of the Colne Philharmonic Orchestra at Witham Town Hall.

Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto is his last large orchestral work.  It forms an important part of the violin repertoire and is one of the most popular and most frequently performed violin concerts in history.  Composed at the height of Mendelssohn’s brilliant career, the concerto became an instant classic and remains one of the cornerstones of the repertoire.   A typical performance lasts just under half an hour.

Anyone aspiring to be a concert violinist simply has to have this one in his or her repertoire, and two of our Trustees, Sue and Sarah, were delighted to be invited by Elodie to the Colne Philarmonic Orcehstra’s concert, and listen to her performance of this masterpiece.

Be Inspired.
