News on our scholar Lewis

28th April 2018

Lewis recently competed in first karting championship and we’ve received this report from his mum.

“In the qualifying race Lewis secured himself 6th place out of 12 on the grid which was brilliant and he was really pleased for himself.

In the actual race Lewis was looking likely to secure 5th place when  he slowed and pulled up. This made Lewis slip to 12th place, and had to change to a new kart.   This didn’t deter him and like a true sportsman he got back on the track and even managed to get back up to 10th place which was amazing.

We are all so proud of Lewis, and even Lewis himself was not disappointed as he is loving being on the track with drivers that push his own ability and it’s making him strive to do his best.  He knows he wouldn’t have got this opportunity if it hadn’t been for DRF.  Lewis found out later that the wheel bearing had gone on his kart which is why the steering was really wobbly. Lewis had the 4th best lap time of the race.

Lewis can put that race down to a very unlucky experience but he looks forward to the next one in May”.

We’re right behind you Lewis!  Go well!

Be Inspired.
